This is a local in-person project of Empowerment Through Thought. It is a monthly gathering and folks come together to think about issues that are important. The club was founded in June 2026 and is hosted by Dr. Louise. As with her philosophical counseling practice, philosophy is used in service of developing the participant’s ideas. This means that it is a very different experience than a traditional philosophy classroom.

The event is typically hosted in Classroom C of the Community Learning Center in downtown South Bend. It starts at 6:30pm and usually involves a combination of group discussion, small group work, and interactive activities. We have a wide range of folks that attend with the youngest being 17 and the most experienced at 85. Folks from all backgrounds join in and we all benefit from having more perspectives to explore together. The event usually lasts 1 hour.

Some topics we have covered in the past include

  • How do we build meaning in uncertain times?
  • How do we participate in community in times of crisis?
  • How do we stay human in the age of AI?
